Black Heritage Through Visual Rhythms Catalog
"The Dayton Art Institute invites you to celebrate the remarkable achievements by American artists of African heritage as we host Black Heritage Through Visual Rhythms. Organized by Dayton's own African American Visual Artists Guild (AAVAG) in conjunction with the DAI, this is the seventh iteration of this national juried exhibition, the first time hosted at the DAI. It is an exciting opportunity for us to present the art of 44 artists from around the country, representing 11 states. The artists are connected by their heritage that traces back to Africa, while their art is dramatically varied in style and subject matter. Media include paintings, drawings, fiber art, collage, photography, embroidery, sculpture, digital art, and print making. Featured is a truly rich mosaic of creativity, covering everything from representational art to abstraction." The exhibit features more than 80 works from 44 artists from across the United States.
